When the festival names Poseidon as the tutelary deity, it fits the landscape. Everything that happens on this edition happens close to the sea, in a light that's different from the two prior editions.

In practice, for me, that means there are more end-of-set tracks in the bag for Poseidon than for Gaïa. More long transitions. More tracks I only play once a year, in specific contexts. The sea inside the selection
I play afro, urban, house. On Poseidon, I push the organic and deep house side harder, because that's what dialogues best with a coastal context. Afro-house around 122 BPM with submerged pads, deep house at 118 BPM with a lot of space, organic 110 BPM on the closing: it creates a fabric that holds with the setting.
It's the opposite of what I'd prep for a closing at O'Sullivans Champs-Élysées on a Saturday night. In a Paris club, I push hard, I hit the drop, I hold the room through the punch. At Poseidon, I hold through the pad and the circular rhythm. Two opposite logics, two different crafts in reality, and it's that contrast that makes the season rich.

The live act alongside the DJ
Like the first two Alta Notte editions, Poseidon mixes DJ and instrumentalists: saxophone, electric guitar, piano. This hybrid is the festival's signature. When a sax comes in at 1:30 AM over a settled afro-house beat at the edge of a Sartenais cove, that's the moment that brings people back the following year. Not the DJ alone. Not the sax alone. The dialogue.
For me, coming from the club circuit, it's an exercise I don't get every day. I'm learning to leave room. To write sets with deliberate "holes" where the instrument can step in.
