July 23rd and 24th, 2026. Nebbiu, Corsica. I'm playing Alta Notte Gaïa. It's the first of three Alta Notte dates this summer, and probably the most exciting one to book in any DJ season. Here's why.
What Alta Notte actually is
Alta Notte is a Corsica festival that runs across three secret locations during the summer. You know when it happens (dates have been public for months), you know roughly where (Nebbiu, Balagne, Sartenais), but the exact meeting point only gets revealed 5 hours before doors. Not before. That's the rule.
This rule changes everything. You prep your set without knowing the exact venue, so you prep several openers. You arrive in the morning without knowing whether you'll play on a beach, in the maquis, near a Romanesque chapel, on a dry-stone terrace. The gear rolls in by convoy, soundcheck happens in commando mode, and the crew briefs you on site within the hour before doors.
It's rare in 2026 to find this level of accepted risk in a festival. Most line-ups land 3 months ahead with the site map in PDF. Here it's the opposite. And that gives a stage feel I don't find anywhere else.
Gaïa, goddess of the Earth
Each Alta Notte edition takes the name of a Greek deity tied to the element of the location. For Nebbiu, it's Gaïa, goddess of the Earth. The Nebbiu micro-region is that north-east corner of Corsica between Saint-Florent and Cap Corse, with rolling hills, olive groves, Romanesque chapels in the middle of nowhere. When you read "goddess of the Earth" while looking at a map of Nebbiu, it lands instantly.
That mythological identity carries into the programming. More organic on the first night, more pressing on the second. At least that's what I've been told. I'll go into detail after the event, in a wrap-up like the one I wrote about Cattenom.
The blend of electronic music and live instrumentation
The thing that made me say yes to Alta Notte (beyond Corsica, the starry nights, the concept) is the live approach. Sets sit inside a fabric that mixes DJ and instrumentalists: sax, electric guitar, piano. Not for folklore. To genuinely dialogue with the rhythm.
I've already played with a saxophonist at Cattenom 2025, and I know how much that transforms a set. When you build your progression knowing that at 1:30 AM an acoustic melody is going to land on your afro-house beat, you don't ramp up the same way. You leave holes. You prep instrumental passages. You actually listen to what's happening next to you.
For Alta Notte Gaïa, I'm already working on a few in-house edits in the afro-house space around 120 BPM, with breaks where the sax can come in. We'll see how it plays on the ground. That's also part of the festival's accepted risk.
Why I'm playing this thing this summer
I play Paris year-round (resident at O'Sullivans Champs-Élysées, regular dates in clubs and bars on the circuit). Stepping outside that circuit for a festival like Alta Notte matters for two reasons.
One, it forces you out of your reflexes. A Corsican crowd in peak summer at 2 AM with the Mediterranean 200 metres away is not the same crowd as a Saturday night on the Champs-Élysées. The selection gets built differently. Transitions hold longer. Silence becomes a tool.
Two, it's a playground for the tracks I don't drop in a Paris club. More organic, longer runtime, more BPM variation. Alta Notte is where I get to test things that need an attentive room.

Alta Notte spans three editions across the summer. After Gaïa in Nebbiu (July 23rd-24th), there's Ouréa, god of the Mountains, in Balagne (August 6th-7th), then Poseidon, god of the Seas, in the Sartenais (August 19th-20th). I'm playing all three.
